Elizabeth Ruark Hoefer
By way of introduction, I am the daughter of Herbert Ruark, Arlene's first cousin on her mother's side. I left Georgia after high school and now live in Alexandria, VA. But I met Arlene in my younger years, and I remember her as young. I knew her mother and father well and knew Beverlee. My first encounter with Aunt Lillie Mae and Uncle Roy was on a visit to Illinois with my parents, grandfather Emory Ruark, and my Aunt Frances , who was also a child. I have memories of a cousin Dennis (Bobby and Ethel?) and I have a picture of Frances and me from that visit.
When the Turners moved to Georgia, we saw more of them both in their home and in ours. I have memories of a trip to Lake Burton with them. And over the years I have heard from my Aunt Carleen and cousin Bobbie about Arlene. They both really liked her, I know. Bobbie told me about her passing. Carleen and Bobbie have always been good about maintaining family ties.
I was sorry to hear about Arlene's passing, but her longevity was impressive, and I have heard many good things about her. It seems from those things and what is written here that she had a full life and was well-loved. I know my father would have wanted me to connect with her family. We are scattered now, but I wish I had known her better.
My thoughts are with you.
Sincerely,
Liz (Ruark) Hoefer
