Obituary for Nancy Channel (Cates) Hobart

Nancy Channel (Cates)  Hobart
Nancy Channel Hobart, age 75, died at home on February 3, 2018 from frontal temporal dementia. In addition to her wife Alice Mohor, Nancy is survived by her sister Mary Hobart, two nieces, two nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Nancy was born in Washington D.C. on March 24, 1942 and was a graduate of the National Cathedral School. She earned a B.A. degree in English at Elon College and moved to Athens, GA, in 1966. She completed a program of theological education through the school of theology at the University of the South (Sewanee) in 2016.

Nancy retired from the University of Georgia after serving as secretary to two vice presidents. She was raised an Episcopalian, but was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church until 2010, when she became an active member of St. Gregory the Great Episcopal Church.

A funeral service in celebration of Nancy's life will be held at St. Gregory on Tuesday, February 20, 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's honor to St. Gregory the Great Episcopal Church, 3195 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605.
