Mr. George R. “Bob” Edwards, 85, died Friday, February 2, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.
Mr. Edwards was born March 16, 1932 in Crawfordville, GA. He was the son of the late Glynn Y. Edwards and Thelma Fouche Edwards.
Mr. Edwards served in the United States Air Force and retired after 22 years of service as a Master Sargent. He served in the Korean and Vietnam War. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service from 1960 to 1964. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Watkinsville to raise their family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet E. Freeman; his grandson, Shane and five brothers, Thomas, Glyson, Emmett, Lee and Lawrence.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Trudy (Irmtraud) Edwards; his son, John Edwards; his son-in-law, Neil Freeman; grandsons, Christopher and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Kayen, Hunter and Karly; brothers, James R. and Marion of Mansfield; two sisters and their husbands, Thelma and Bill Moore and Mrya and Carrie Maxwell both of Washington and a number of nieces, nephews and his wife’s family from Germany.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors, 2370 Hwy 53, Watkinsville, GA 30677.
