Obituary for Benjamin Jackson Holton

Benjamin Jackson Holton, native of Watkinsville, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 just two days shy of his 90th birthday.
Born in Bacon County, GA, he was a son of the late Thomas Berry Holton and Carrie Johnson Holton. Mr. Holton was a member of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge #22. He was employed with the Athens Police Department from 1958 to 1987 and retired as a Lieutenant. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Hawkins Holton.
Survivors include three children, Terri (Don) Duncan, Skipper Holton, and Cheryl (Gary) Cain; one brother, Jackie Ray Holton; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 10:00 until 11:00 am at Lord and Stephens, East on Lexington Road. Graveside services will follow at the Oconee Hill Cemetery with full honors rendered by the Athens Clarke County Police Department Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Alzheimer’s Association, Metro Atlanta Regional Office, 41 Perimeter Center East, Ste 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.
