Sally Nash Upchurch, 86, of Athens, died March 24, 2017.
A native and lifelong resident of Athens, she was a daughter of the late Luther J. and Florrie Reeves Nash. She was preceded in death by a brother, Luther J. Nash, Jr, sister, Winifred Hunter Byrd, and was the widow of Charles L. Upchurch, II. Mrs. Upchurch enjoyed working in her yard, but most importantly was devoted to her family. A longtime member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, her strong Christian life was lived by her faith in God.
Survivors include her children, Lane Smith (Robin), Dru Satterfield and Charlie Upchurch, III (Dora); sister, Mary Nash Mercer; grandchildren, Mitch Smith (Chris), Trenton Chasteen (Jon), Andy Smith (Lauren), Evan Satterfield (Jessica), Vance Satterfield, Julianne Upchurch, Janie Upchurch and Jodi Upchurch and 8 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, WEST, Monday, March 27, 2017 from 1:00 until 2:15 PM. Services will follow in the chapel at 2:30 PM with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Mitch Smith, Andy Smith, Evan Satterfield, Vance Satterfield, Vance Snow, Mike Nash and Jon Chasteen. Honorary pallbearers will be Robin Mercer, Kelly Mercer, Shannon Mercer, Mark Nash and David Nash.
Memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church, Mercy Clinic or Athens Pregnancy Center.
The family would like to express a special thank you to all the staff of St. Mary's Hospice House and caregivers, Carbie Epps, Jane Ash, Della Clark, Carol Nimmons, Ruby Kelly, Shonda Henson and Sylvia Lowe.
