Donald Jackson  Edwards
The family of Donald Jackson Edwards (81) said goodbye to their family patriarch Wednesday, March 22nd after a short battle with pneumonia. Mr. Edwards of Watkinsville, Georgia, originally from Meridian, Mississippi, is survive by his wife of 52 years, Vivian Bond Edwards of Watkinsville, Georgia, a daughter, Misty Edwards Alfonso of Winder, Georgia and daughter, Melody Edwards Knight of Rutledge, Georgia. He leaves behind sisters, Peggy Edwards of Athens, Georgia and Shirley Palmes of Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. Edwards was preceeded in death by his younger brother, James Terry Edwards of Baldwin, Georgia and parents, James Jackson and Grace Raley Edwards of Meridian, Mississippi. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Avery Alfonso, Camden Alfonso, Ellie Rose Alfonso, Josiah Alfonso, Jackson Knight, Hannah Knight and Luke Knight, and the great grandfather of Wesley Elder. The legacy of Don Edwards will continue to be his love of and loyalty to his family. He was a lover of music, especially the standards including Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Billie Holliday. He was an avid history buff and collector of World War II and Civil War memorabilia. Mr. Edwards was also a writer or historical suspense fiction. The legacy of Don Edwards will continue to be his love for and loyalty to his family and many friends. He sought in life to be an encourager of many and a true lover of The Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. His memory lives on through his writings, his storytelling which is even now passed from one generation to the next, and his immense love for his wife, Vivian. His family asks that you honor him by donating to The Spina Bifida Association of Georgia in lieu of flowers. Funeral services will be held at Grace Fellowship Church on Malcom Bridge Road, Bogart this Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11 am with visitation with the family tonight at Lord and Stephens West from 6 to 8 pm. Lord and Stephens West is in charge of arrangements.
