Obituary for Megan Beth Twist

Megan Beth Twist
Megan Beth Twist
July 16, 1993 – November 28, 2016

Megan Twist, 23, died Monday, November 28, 2016 in Jacksonville Florida from injuries sustained in a car accident. Born in Atlanta, she was raised by her parents Roy Twist III and Barbara Twist (Bernotas) in Athens, GA. She was an Honors Graduate of Prince Avenue Christian School and a member of the National Honor Society. She graduated from Georgia Southern University and made the Dean’s List several times, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Public Relations. Megan resided in Jacksonville, Florida.
Megan’s life was a testimony of bringing happiness and joy into every life she touched. She had an infectious laugh and smile and could lift the spirits of anyone in the room. Her friends described her as smart, beautiful, a free spirit and an incredibly loving and caring person – the best friend a girl could have. Megan loved music, especially the Beatles. She also loved comedy TV shows and would often quote lines from them to make her family and friends laugh. She was so strong for others, always choosing to lift them up during their trials and encouraging them with love and laughter along the way. Megan loved her family and her family is forever grateful they could enjoy Thanksgiving this year with her.
Megan was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her in life. And now even in death, she became a bright light to many who did not know her. She will “live on” in the lives of five or more individuals who were the recipients of her unselfish and loving act of organ donor donation.
We are so thankful as a family for the thousands of friends who have reached out, prayed and showered love upon us and Megan. Your heart-warming memories of this vibrant, perky young lady during such a devastating time gave us a bit of light in a dark place. Your outreach is humbling and overwhelming. And as we walk through this valley, we are able to occasionally glimpse up to the glow that was our daughter, our sister, our aunt, and our friend.
In addition to her parents, Roy Twist and Barbara Twist Bernotas, survivors include sisters: Jane Twist (Patrick) Hixson, and their children Luke and Colin of Athens, Georgia; Katy Twist (Doug) Williams and their children Cohen and Lily of Bluffton, South Carolina; and Carolyn Twist (Wes) Hostetler and their children Presley and Marley of Franklin, Tennessee; and her paternal grandparents, Roy and Betty Jo Twist of Meade, Kansas, her stepfather Lenny Bernotas and many other family members throughout the country.
A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11 AM at Prince Avenue Baptist Church, Bogart, Georgia with Reverend’s David Cooper and Jeff Appling officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. After, internment will be at Oconee Hills Cemetery, next to Sanford Stadium. Lord and Stephens West Funeral Home is overseeing all the arrangements.
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He (she) who believes in Me will live, even though he (she) dies.” -John 11
