Obituary for Maurice Harvey "Mike" Hammer

Maurice Harvey "Mike" Hammer
It is with great sadness, the family of Mike Hammer announces his passing on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at the age of 80 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Loretta "Lori" and his children Gregory (Carolisa) and Stephen (Elizabeth). As the eldest son of Harold and Mabel Hammer, he is survived by his brothers, Loren, Gene, Gary, Don and sister Virginia.

A native of Norway, Kansas, Maurice graduated from Kansas State University with a graduate degree in Agricultural Economics. After several assignments with the USDA, Mike retired in 1998 as deputy state statistician for the Statistical Reporting Service in Athens, GA.

A devoted husband and father, Maurice served in the Army National Guard, and was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make memorial donations in honor of Mike to the Christus Victor Lutheran Church and Student Center 1010 South Lumpkin St. Athens, GA 30605.

The service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, July 21st at the Oconee Chapel. Visitation will begin one hour prior. The Oconee Chapel is located at 2370 Hog Mountain Rd. In Watkinsville. The committal service will follow at a later date. www.lordandstephens.com
