Obituary for Thomas Oliver

Thomas  Oliver
Thomas Parks Oliver, 99, passed away June 14, 2018. A native of Athens, he was a son of the late Thomas and Vonie Oliver, and was also preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Kay Oliver and sons, Thomas Robert Oliver and Victor Maurice Oliver. Mr. Oliver was a combat veteran of the United States Navy, who served in the South Pacific during World War II. He received the American-Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He worked as a welder in the Norfolk, VA shipyards and later traveled the country working construction. He was a member of IBEW and has been honored as the grandson of a Confederate veteran of the Civil War. He was Baptist and proudly supported orphans and missions in honor of his late wife, Bea.

Graveside services will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 4:00pm at Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev. Ronnie Healan officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30pm at Lord and Stephens West funeral home.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Lora (Robb) Hutcherson of Rock Spring, GA, and great-grandsons John Robert and Thomas Rhett Hutcherson.
Lord and Stephens, West is in charge of arranagements.
