Obituary for Kelly Checketts

Kelly Checketts
Kelly Jean Checketts, 39, beloved wife of Brandon Scott Checketts, died on Monday, June 11, 2018 after losing a valiant seven year fight against an aggressive brain tumor. She reluctantly leaves behind the four children of their 16 year marriage, to whom she was a devoted mother: Noah, Catie, Andrew and C.J. As a "military brat," she loved traveling to new places with her parents, Colin and Judith Ackerson, both of Athens. She is also survived by her maternal grandparents, F.M. and Ruth Cromwell of Athens. Throughout her lifelong interest in fiber arts she donated numerous handmade objects to worthy causes, and her family notes with gratitude the donated prayer shawl that covered her in the Piedmont ER when she passed. They also gratefully acknowledge the numerous dedicated doctors and medical personnel who helped extend her life. A celebration of Kelly’s life will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 4 p.m at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1080 Julian Drive Watkinsville, Georgia, where she was an active member. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that mourners follow her example of volunteering time to a charity or organization, or "paying it forward" to help someone in need. Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com
