Obituary for Clarence J.W. "Chris" Crysler Jr.

Clarence “Chris” J.W. Crysler, Jr., 91 of Athens, passed away March 6, 2018. He was born in Richmond Hill, Long Island, New York. He also lived in New York, NY, Gillette, NJ, Summit, NJ, Chatham, NJ, Stone Mountain, GA, Dallas, TX, and Buford, GA at Lake Lanier.
He attended Good Shepherd school in NY, St. Teresa’s in Summit, NJ, Stirling JHS in Stirling NJ, Morristown SHS in Morristown NJ and graduated from Fordham University in the Bronx, NY.
He enlisted in the USNR on October 31, 1944 as a US Navy Air Crewman. After college he worked a year for the Newark Star Ledger and then worked for Chubb & Son for over 20 years followed by another 22 years with Gulf Insurance Co. and Travelers.
He coached Little League baseball for 10 years with Chatham NJ Boro little league. He enjoyed 58 years of marriage with former Adele J. Oswald.
Memorial services are Saturday March 10, 2018 11:00am at Lord & Stephens, West Chapel with the family visiting from 10:00am until the servicetime.
He was predeceased by his wife Adele, son, Tom, sisters, Dorothy Devine and Virginia Flanagan.
Survived by his daughter, Debbie Crysler McClung and her husband, Tony of Athens, GA, and three sons, Kenneth and his wife Roseanne of Hoschton, GA, Mick and his wife Tesa of Lawrenceville, GA and Kevin and his wife, Diana of Columbia, MD. Seven grandchildren: Dr. Stephanie Wells, Erin Crysler, Rebecca Stinson, Jennifer Gann, Jason Crysler, Samantha Smith, Sarah M. Batastini and 8 great grandchildren. He also survived by his sister, Azella O’Dwyer of Nolensville, TN and Catherine Rowe and her husband AL of West Palm Beach, FL..
