Larry M. James, Jr., 41, affectionately known by many as “LJ”, died Friday, February 16, 2018. Born in Augusta, GA, he was the son of Judy James of Watkinsville and the late Larry M. James, Sr. Larry was a graduate of Athens Christian School and Emmanuel College where he was a standout scholar athlete in Basketball and still holds several scoring records today at both schools. He began his professional career at Jennings Mill County Club in 2000 and has served as the Head Professional and within recent years became the General Manager. In addition to his mother, survivors include his sister and brother in law: Robbye and Wes Porterfield of Watkinsville; nieces: Sydney and Melody Porterfield and girlfriend Catherine Browne. A celebration of Larry’s Life will be held Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 2PM at Watkinsville First Baptist Church with Revs. Jason Dominey and Chris Brogden officiating. Interment will follow at Ross Chapel Church. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the funeral home. Lord & Stephens West is in charge of arrangements.
