Obituary for Peter Salim Zogby

Peter Salim Zogby
Peter Salim Zogby, entered into rest on February 4, 2018, with his loved ones by his side after a gallant fight with cancer. He was born on September 4, 1946 in Utica, NY, son of the late Joseph and Julia Zogby. He was a graduate of Proctor High School, Utica, New York. Peter received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, where he was a linebacker and place kicker for the Big Red. He received his Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School. Peter practiced law for over 30 years in Utica. His love of hunting, photography, gardening, golf, football, lacrosse, and sports in general was evident in his life. Peter was once married to the former Barbara Bossone, the mother of his three children. In June of 2002 he married Kimberly (Ray) Zogby. Peter and Kim moved to Georgia to escape the New York winters and to be closer to his children. There, he was able to continue his love of football specifically his beloved Georgia Bulldogs, having been the owner and operator of a UGA sports memorabilia store in Athens, GA he named Dawgz-R-Us. Peter loved to cook and share foods from his Lebanese heritage and would do so every chance he could. He was most passionate about his family and enjoyed spending time with them more than anything else.

Peter was a grateful and longtime friend of Bill W., the principles of which he practiced in all the
aspects of his life and which especially helped him through his illness. He recently posted on Facebook “I urge you to stop and smell the roses along the way.”

Peter was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather (Giddoo) and friend. Peter is survived by his devoted wife Kim; his children, Peter (Angie) of Marietta, Georgia, Amy Hope Zogby of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and Paul (Amy Elizabeth) of DeWitt, New York; five grandchildren Luke, Roman, Eli, Juliana, Jordan Zogby; two brothers-in-law, K. Paul (Diane) Ray, Jonathan (Sangeeta) Ray; six sisters-in-law, Pamela Koshmerl, Suzanne Fraser, Andrea Ray, Jolianne Ray, Kristina Ray, and Sally Zogby, their children and grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his brother Paul K. and two sisters, Sarah and Mariam.

The family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice for their kindness and wonderful care, enabling Peter to remain comfortable at home until his passing.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 12:00 noon at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, 520 Rutger Street, Utica, N.Y., where the Divine Liturgy of the Departed will be celebrated. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
