Carol Faye (Whitehead) Hammond, 65, lost her battle to cancer on the evening of December 3, 2017.
She was a daughter of Randall and Inez Martin Whitehead. She was a wonderful wife for 46 ½ years and was a very loving mother. She loved kids, her family and animals, especially her beautiful dog, Hanna Girl. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Hammond and her sister, Melissa Ann Whitehead; paternal grandparents, Sim and Maude Thurmond Whitehead and maternal grandparents, Roy and Claude Crow Martin.
She worked for Superior Manufacturing for 33 ½ years and worked in the school lunchroom for 6 years. She and her sisters were known as “the five girls”. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Sammy B. Hammond; one brother, Tillman Whitehead; sisters, Patricia Malcolm (Terry), Jackie Akins (Ernest), Gloria Martin (Danny) and Mary Kittle (Steve); dear friend, Debbie Johnson; two aunts and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
