Mary Catharene Moss Woods, born June 3, 1931 in Athens, Georgia, to William Byrd Moss and Marion Eppes Moss, passed away on November 22, 2017 in Athens.
Catharene graduated from Athens High School, class of 1948, and married Thomas James Woods Junior, in Athens in 1949. They lived in the cities of Athens, Atlanta, and Jackson, Georgia and in Long Beach, California. He passed away in 1999
Living in Athens for the past twenty years, Catharene was especially fond of Carlton Mell, her companion with whom she had been friends since kindergarten.
Catharene was active in the Red Hat Society and enjoyed scrapbooking, square dancing and floral design.
She was predeceased by her brother William Lee Moss. Survivors include brother John Hill Moss (Joy) of Anderson, South Carolina, sons James Anthony Woods (Cindy) of Rossmoor, California, David William Woods (Melody) of Woodstock, Georgia, and Richard Lee Woods of Athens, grandchildren Steven Lance Woods and Catharene Woods, great grandchildren Ian Woods and Foxx Woods, and nephew Thomas Hart Wilkins (Ann) of Athens.
The family will received visitors from two to four pm on Sunday, December 10th at their residence, 445 Franklin Street #26, Athens, Georgia 30606. The funeral will be private. There will be a memorial fund for those who wish to contribute.
