Obituary for John L. Dority

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of John P. Dority, Esq., our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, husband and friend on November 11, 2017. His departure from this earth at age 93 was peaceful and painless.

John had been a resident of the Beechwood Hills community here in Athens for the past eleven years, where his daily walks exemplified his resilience and determination, traits which were characteristic of his long, full life.

After his service in WWII, John earned his juris doctorate from the University of Wisconsin, and, as a patent attorney, was involved with many of the early innovations which enabled the digital age we live in today.

He is survived by his brother, Landon; five sons, Evan, John Benjamin, Tom, Doug and Jim; three grandchildren, Ainsley, Avery and Aubrey; nieces, nephews and many friends and former colleagues.

John will be interred at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Virginia on December 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM. A memorial gathering will be held after the burial.

Lord and Stephens, Watkinsville, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
