Obituary for Flo Eller Carter

Flo Eller Carter of Winterville, GA, recently of Morningside Assisted Living and Quiet Oaks Health Care, passed away November 10, 2017. She was born December 18, 1930, in the Fodder Creek community near Hiawassee, GA, to John Ranzy and Esta Eller. She moved to Athens in 1949 where she married the late Thomas Edward Carter Sr. They eventually settled and raised a family in Oglethorpe County. She was a homemaker and also did private duty health care. She was a member of Sonlight Baptist Church, the Beaverdam Volunteer Fire Dept. Aux., and the Oglethorpe County Senior Center.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Lake Eller, Max Eller, Truett Eller, Myrle Sprinkles, Myrtle Keller, Ollie D. Hilton, Vella McCarter, Della Reese, York Eller, Roy Hilton, and Robert Hilton.
She is survived by sons Tommy (Teresa) Carter of Raleigh, NC and John (Amendia) Carter of Carlton, GA; grandchildren Melissa (Bobby) Weaver, Alex Carter, Savannah Carter, and Taylor Lee (Blake Burney); great-grandchildren Crystal Weaver, Deven Weaver, and Cash Burney; and a very special friend, Clara Wilson.
The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, November 13, at Lord and Stephens, East Chapel. Services will be conducted by Mrs. Carter’s nephew, Rev. Stan Eller. Pall bearers will be the Athens-Clarke County Fire Dept. Honor Guard. The entombment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 pm on Sunday, November 12, 2017.
