Obituary for Frances Grant Kay

Frances (Frankie) Kay, 92, died October 17, 2017. Mrs. Kay was born in Taylors, South Carolina to the late B.F. Grant and Eva Grant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Kay (Athens Photographer) and her beloved grandson, Craig Waldo. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Athens.

Frankie attended Athens High School then graduated from the University of Georgia in 1944 with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). She was a homemaker in her early years of marriage and then enjoyed a career at USDA Richard Russell Research Center. She has always enjoyed playing Bridge (card game) and continued to play each week with some of her lifelong friends.

She is survived by four daughters: Terri Thomas (Russ) of Brunswick, Bonnie Howard (Doug) of Braselton, Linda Hagen (Ken) of Atlanta and Laura Watson of Athens and her grandsons: Luke, Josh and Zach.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Oconee Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, West.

Flowers are accepted.
