Janet Laura Konecny, 1/12/38-10/18/17, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017. A native of Athens, she was the daughter of the late Roy L. Wigley and Elsie Aaron Whitehead and sister to the late Carol Andrews. Janet retired from the FAA Air Traffic Control Flight Services division and was very proud to be a pilot. After retiring, she was involved with Extra Special People (ESP) and other community service organizations.
Janet is survived by her husband of 36 years, John Konecny and her sons Travis Winfrey of Oakland, CA (Rhonda Evans), Alan Winfrey of Athens, GA, Kevin Konecny of Hickory, NC (Teresa), Kerry Konecny of Fort Worth, TX (Sheli), and one grandchild, Anina Grace Evans Winfrey.
A memorial celebration of Janet’s life is planned for October 28, between 2-5 pm at her home. In memory of Janet, donations may be made to Extra Special People (ESP) of Watkinsville.
