Obituary for Myrtice Kilpatrick (Landrum)

Myrtice Landrum Kilpatrick, 95, of Bishop, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017, surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Willard Kilpatrick, and three sisters: Vivien Belote, Helen Dawson, and Frances Campbell. She is survived by three children: Pam (Doc) Crawford of Bishop, David (Judy) Kilpatrick of Bogart, and Doug (Melissa) Kilpatrick of Bogart; and one sister, Fay Escoe of Winterville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Kim Whedbee, Kristen Taylor, Melissa Houston, Sharon Kirkham, Kelly Poe, Ashley Griffin, and Jessica Wilcox; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kilpatrick worked for the Oconee County school system in Food Service for 25 years. She began her career at Bishop Elementary and also worked at Oconee Elementary. She held many district offices in the school system and served on the PTA for Oconee County High School. Along with her work for the Pilot Club of Oconee County, she was a member of the Watkinsville Garden Club and served on the VFA Ladies’ Auxiliary from 1941 to 2011. She joined the Disciples of Christ in 1935 and worked with youth, served in church offices, taught Elder Sunday School, and CWF, loving every year.
She was an excellent cook, and she especially loved to write and send letters and cards to her large extended family and friends. She also wrote the Bishop News column for the Oconee Enterprise. What she most wished to be remembered for was that she loved people, and they loved her in return.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at Lord and Stephens, West Chapel. Reverends Sheila Hunter and Doug Ivey will officiate. Great-grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 6. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Christian Church in Watkinsville.
Lord and Stephens, West is in charge of arrangements.
