Obituary for Mary Louise Nation

Mary Louise Wheless Nation, age 91 of Crawford died December 21, 2016 after a long illness and extended years at Quiet Oaks Nursing Home.
She was a lifelong resident of Oglethorpe County and the daughter of the late Joseph Hyatt Wheless and Lula Thomas Wheless. She was preceded in death by her husband John Henry Nation of 39 years.
She helped on the family farm and was a wonderful cook. All her family have wonderful memories of her special dishes. She loved baseball and followed the Braves.
Survivors include her sons, Mike (Cheryl) Nation, Jerry (Beverly) Nation, Randy (Charlotte) Nation and Jeff (Tina) Nation; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas Wheless, Ray Wheless; sisters: Evelyn Carlisle, Willie Lee Nation, Betty Jean Furcron, Kay Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. One brother, Junior Wheless, preceded her in death. She had a lifelong friend and helper, Shirley Hitchcock.
She was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church but attended Welcome Avenue Congregational Holiness Church until her health declined.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11 AM at Welcome Avenue Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Keesler officiating. Pallbearers will be Kelvin Wheless, J.B. Nation, Matt Nation, Adam Nation, Bubba Nation and Jeremy Nation. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the funeral home.
