Obituary for Alvin Ivie

Alvin Thurman Ivie, 96, passed away on June 27, 2016.

He was the son of James W. Ivie and Cleo Huff Ivie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Pritchett Ivie, sisters, Agnes Marshall, Doris Scoggins, Katie Elder, Ruby Hayes and brothers, Morris Ivie and James C. Ivie.

He was a member of Freeman Creek Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Director and a Deacon. He retired from Puritan Mills in 1978 after many years of service.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.

He is survived by a daughter, Elaine Lundy (Ted); sons, Charles Ivie (Carol) and Doyle Ivie (Claire); grandchildren, Catherine Whitehead, Sherrie Pope, Jennifer Holaday, Heath Ivie, Laura Kennon and Shawn Williams; ten great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will gather at the residence of Charles Ivie, 76 Jackson Street, Watkinsville, GA 30677.

Flowers will be accepted. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
