She was a native of Etowah County and a life member of the First United Methodist Church of Attalla when she was baptized as an infant. She graduated from Etowah High School in 1938. Shortly afterward she married Willis T. (Wink) Yother. Her life was dedicated to their two children, Lana and Mike. She had a servant’s heart always ready to help others and share her wonderful talents. She was community minded and loved reading, traveling and painting. She had a love for politics, current events and was quite a history buff. She was perceived by many as Chef Margaret with her southern culinary skills.

Margaret was a native of Etowah County having lived in Attalla and Gadsden all of her life other than the last 4 years when she resided in Athens, Ga where she made many new friends and enjoyed the local cultural events. During this time she lived at St Mary's Highland Hills Village and attended the First United Methodist Church of Athens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall Lane Sr. and Vallie Walker; husband, Willis Thomas Yother; son in law, Sam Mitchell; sisters, Maxine Littlejohn, Sue Cain and Linda Brown; brothers, Harold Walker, M. L. Walker, Jr.; nephew, Les Walker.

She is survived by her daughter, Lana Yother Mitchell, Athens GA; son, Michael R. Yother (Milly), Gadsden, AL; grandchildren, Mark Houston Mitchell (Michelle), Athens, Ga, Scott Thomas Mitchell, Athens, GA, Elizabeth Yother Phillips (Scott), Nashville, Tennessee and Lauryn Yother Barnett (Andy), Atlanta, GA. Great grandchildren, Victoria Mitchell, Savannah Mitchell, Samuel Mitchell, Marianne Mitchell, Elle Phillips, Yother Phillips and Hill Barnett IV in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The First United Methodist Church of Attalla or to the St Mary's Hospice Home of Athens, GA.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Dr. Hindia Tahir , to the fifth floor neurological staff at Athens Regional Medical Center, and to the staff of St Mary's Hospice House.
